Summer is the hardest time of year for Food Banks. While through the Holidays there is an abundance of food donations, through the Summer months is it s time of scarcity. That’s why we have decided to step in, serve our city and partner with River City Food Bank to provide food donations this month.
On August 12th, bags for filling with your donations will be made available at our Sunday gathering. Bags will be available every Sunday after until the 26th.
Be sure to bring your donation bag back on August 26th, because this is the ONLY DAY we will be collecting donations.
If you’re looking for suggestions of what to fill your bag with, River City Food Bank provided a wish list for us:
- Fresh fruits and veggies
- Canned soups
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Canned vegetables
- Canned beans
- Canned fruit
- Canned tomatoes
- Peanut butter
- 100% juice
- Kids snacks (Granola bars, nuts, trail mix, juice boxes, crackers etc.)
- Soap, shampoo, deodorants, tooth paste, razors, lotions in all sizes
- Baby food and milk based formula
- Baby diapers all sizes
- Baby wipes
- Bags, paper or plastic
- Personal toiletries – small and family size – such as hand soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrushes and dental floss, deodorant, razors
