Our Story

With a group of friends and family, Founding Pastor’s Tim and Vanessa Coburn launched Society Church in February of 2013 at 8th & R St in Downtown Sacramento. After the first year the church had grown to over 100 people and needed to move locations, and for about 4 years Society Church met at Beatnik Studios before moving to 2711 B Street, the old B Street Theater.

In 2023, after discerning God’s desire for them to move on from Sacramento, Tim and Vanessa invited their friends, Sean and Jennifer Arisco, who had started Citizens Church three years earlier, to marry their two congregations together and succeed them as the Lead Pastors of Society Church.

Today Society Church continues to grow and thrive as a community committed to faith exploration, spiritual formation, and radical compassion under the direction of God’s Spirit.
