Vanessa grew up in South Sacramento and has served in various areas of ministry since being a “pastor’s kid.” She has been a youth intern, college & career group co-pastor, has led worship for churches, retreats, and conferences for over 20 years, and is a gifted communicator of the Spirit and truth of the scriptures. 

Little known, fun fact: Vanessa is a licensed cosmetologist and has worked at some of the top salons in Sacramento. Since her retirement from cosmetology, she has been in full-time ministry as the Co-Pastor of Society Church. Vanessa holds a certificate in Worship Ministry from Integrity Worship Institute (Regent University) and is a certified Spiritual Director with Sustainable Faith. She is passionate about creating a safe, contemplative, Spirit-directed space for those at all points of their faith journey. She currently does this through worship, spiritual direction, preaching/teaching, pastoral staff ministry, and the arts. In her free time, she volunteers as an Art Docent at a local Elementary School. She also practices abstract watercolor and has had her art in galleries and local businesses around Sacramento.
