Spirit Led Life

What does it mean to live a “Spirit Led Life”?

Acts 1:4-5, 8

“On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit…..but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

What is the purpose of the Holy Spirit?

Spiritual Empowerment (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18)

Personal Transformation (Galatians 5:22-26)

In the illustration below think about this path as a journey walking towards the sun. The shadow is meant to be behind you as you journey towards Christ. Then when darkness comes, those dark valleys of life, we allow God to be a lamp to our feet (one step at a time) and a light to our path (provision of vision and direction). Along the way we experience the Spirit Led mission of God all around us in the people we meet, the projects we work on, and the formation we experience both individually and communally. The mission is to make disciples of Jesus. Not followers of us, or “believers” but active participants in the life of Christ.

Not interested in God or what God might be doing in your life where interests are directed by self, often resulting in discord, confusion and frustration.
Attempting to live the Christian life on your own strength where interests are still directed by yourself will still lead to discord, confusion, and frustration.
Living a life where your interests are directed by the Spirit will lead to harmony with God’s plan and clarity of mind and heart about God’s purposes.
