Art & Soul – Week 5 – CREATED TO CREATE
Making our lives our greatest works of art.
- You have been created to create: You are God’s Living Masterpiece in the artful hands of God
Psalm 139:13-16- “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
You where born as an original don’t die as a copy-
- You have been created to create: Friends Make Your lives Extraordinary, don’t settle for ordinary.
HOW DO WE MAKE OUR LIVES EXTRAORDINARY? By embracing the ordinary with the creative genius of God.
Ephesians 5:14-17- “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” 15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
The sin of commission vs. omission
Sins of commission- Actions, Attitudes and Activities we actively commit in our life against God’s original design and intention for humanity.
Sins of Omission- Actions, Attitudes and Activities we actively omit (leave out) from our life that goes against Gods original intention for our life.
What is the relationship between sins of commission and sins of omission? The actions, attitudes and activities of the sins of commission keep us from experiencing and expressing the divine unlived life of masterpiece within us. Where as simply following rules void of love and spiritual life is equally empty. Every time we commit these sins we are also omitting something from our lives.
Conclusion:
The value of art is determined by the skill of the one who created it. Who is forming your life, who is shaping it, bringing it to life with artful imagination and creativity?
